For the 8x8 pixel miniature time-of-flight imager module TOF frame 611 of the Swiss photonics specialist Espros the range could be increased from 2m to 3m by improved calibration and compensation algorithms. The module has a field of view of 12° (h/v) and delivers depth information per pixel at max. 80fps. The individual depth information of the 64 pixels is provided via a high speed UART interface with 1 Mbit/s. The particularly compact dimensions of just 39.6x16.3x8.0mm allow integration even in very small installation spaces. This makes the TOF>frame 611 ideal for applications in the field of simple gesture recognition, people counting, as a proximity sensor or for environmental mapping (SLAM). An evaluation kit with intuitive user interface and software examples for Windows and Mac OS is available for developers.
