With the GVLP series, Bivar expands its light pipe portfolio with a range designed for compact assemblies with a short distance between LED and front panel. The one-piece, vertical light pipes made of clear polycarbonate (UL94 V-0) are pressed directly into the PCB without adhesive and without heat staking – saving assembly time and increasing retention force. The GVLP series is positioned between the cost-optimised VLP series and the high-end LPV series.
The series covers heights from 0.200" to 0.650" (approx. 5.1 – 16.5 mm) in 0.050" increments, so that almost any LED-to-panel distance can be served without compromise. Each height is available in two head styles: -F with a flat head and -R with a rounded (dome) head – depending on whether a flush front panel appearance or a wider viewing angle is the priority. The integrated press-fit feature is designed for PCB thicknesses from 0.047" to 0.089" (approx. 1.19 – 2.26 mm), making it suitable for common 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm boards.
