3D Time-of-Flight Sensors

3D Time-of-Flight Sensors

The epc600 is a monolithic, highly integrated photoelectric CMOS device for optical distance measurement and object recognition. The chip measures 2.65mm x 2.65mm, is based on the 3D 'Time-of-Flight (TOF) principle and contains the following system modules:

path for data acquisition with driver stage for one or more external LEDs, photoreceiver, A/D converter and signal processing.
-On-Chip Controller for data acquisition and communication.
-2 wire serial interface.
voltage regulation unit.

The epc610 is a fully integrated time-of-flight imager (camera) designed as a system-on-chip. The device works based on the time-of-flight measurement principle. Modulated light is emitted by a transmitter. The light beams are reflected by the object and detected by the photosensitive TOF CCD array consisting of 8x8 pixels. The receiver determines the propagation time from the phase shift between the transmitted and received light, individually for each of the 64 pixels. This value multiplied by the speed of light (approx. 300,000km/s) divided by 2 is directly proportional to the distance.
